costumes

October 30th, 2007

Even though Halloween isn’t until tomorrow, we had our downtown trick or treat this past friday evening. The kids got all dressed up, we took a few pics then headed to the medical center for trick or treating. After dumping all of the loot into a bag in the car, they went for another round to many of the downtown businesses. I think we ended up with around 21 lbs. of candy from the night. Can’t imagine what it will be like when Tyghe is actually getting candy next year. LOL

Here’s a sneak preview of tomorrow night (for which I’m sure I will post more pics).
My sweet “Tygher” and the rest of the gang (Tyghe had fallen asleep so missed the group shot this time.)

swim lessons

October 30th, 2007

Kezia finished her swim lessons last week and did very well. They didn’t cover treading water until the last few minutes of the last class, so she didn’t quite get it, but otherwise passed all of the skills to move on to the next level. Way to go!

Bad Mom vs. Lame Neighbor

October 22nd, 2007

Justin is gone on travel, I had kids that needed to be in different places at the same time, and as I’m loading most of them into the car, a police car pulls up.  The cop heads up the driveway and asks if “that’s my daughter”, referring to Ada.  I smile and say yes.  He asks if everything is OK, and informs me that they got a call about a crying child, and no sign of parents - or something of that nature.  I giggle and explain that Ada was throwing a tantrum and refused to come inside with me.  I could hear her crying, left the door open so she could just push it to come in and checked on her periodically to see if she had changed her mind.  But, she chose to stand outside crying and eventually screaming for mommy.   And of course, Ada’s got her daddy’s lungs, so I’m sure the entire neighborhood could hear her.

I figure I’m either a bad mom for letting my almost 3 year old stand outside crying, or I’ve got a really lame neighbor, who is too lazy to walk across the street and knock on the door to see if everything is OK before calling the police.  Thank goodness the cop was nice and just smiled when I explained the situation.  Ugh.

October snow

October 21st, 2007

Another sign that we live on a mountain - it was over 70 yesterday, but today we got snow!

This was early on, so we did get a bit more than in the picture. Either way, it’s crazy.

Yum Run

October 21st, 2007

Both Caemlyn and I ran in the annual Ruby K’s Yum Run yesterday morning. I ran first in the 5K, then Caemlyn ran in the 1K. There are pics of me - but none I’m willing to post online. lol Here’s a cool one I got of Caemlyn as she was heading toward the finish - showing me what place she was in.

We also got the tile in the shower grouted yesterday! We’re getting closer. :)

check-ups

October 19th, 2007

Kezia and Tyghe both had check-ups at the pediatrician yesterday.
Kez was a little late for her 5 year check-up. She weighed in at only 39 1/2 lbs. and is 44 inches tall. She’s almost the exact same size Caemlyn was at 5 years (just weighs 2 1/2 lbs. less). She passed all the tests and got her shots so she’s ready to start school next year. Yippee!

Tyghe had his 4 month check-up and weighed in at a whopping 19 lbs. 2 oz. and is 25 1/2 inches long. He’s a big boy. He also passed all of his “tests”. Of course, the NP we saw was pretty clueless and didn’t even discuss their growth at all - if she even looked at it. She did make a brief comment sort of under her breath about Tyghe seeming to be sensitive to the light, but that was it. Not sure what she meant, or if it’s anything to be concerned about - guess I’ll wait until his 6 month check-up to discuss it with one of the actual docs in the practice. Other than that, the biggest concern seemed to be disgust for not giving him all of the immunizations at once. I asked to have them spread out so he wasn’t getting more than 2 at a time, but assured them I would get them. You’d think I was trying to kill the kid or something the way they were acting. Oh my.

my boys

October 14th, 2007

Tyghe turned 4 months old today, so we took some pics.

I also put together the 4 month comparison of all of the kids.

Zeph wanted in on the picture action (after playing beauty salon with his sisters), so I got one of both of my boys together. Do they really look that much alike? Seems like everyone I’ve seen in the last couple of weeks has commented on Tyghe looking just like Zeph.

In other news…
I attended my first PRB (parks and rec board) meeting this past Thursday. It was quite interesting. I guess I never realized before how political county boards are. I learned a lot about the county in just a couple of hours, and figure this will be a good learning experience.

Kezia started swim lessons again this past week and is doing quite well. I’m amazed at the difference between now and her previous session many months ago. Of course, she is quick to remind me she wants to be a dance teacher, not a swim teacher. lol

appointment

October 2nd, 2007

I just found out yesterday that I was appointed to the County Parks and Recreation board by the County Council. I interviewed at least a month ago, and figured they appointed someone else since I hadn’t heard anything. But, being Los Alamos, they are just slow and only notified me via email. This should be an interesting new experience, although I must be crazy for taking this on right now.

Other exciting news - they are opening a new Kohls in Santa Fe tomorrow! Lots of us up here are quite excited about it.
