Thankful
The biggest thing we were thankful for yesterday would have to be Ada Jane, on her 3rd birthday.

You could also say we were thankful for the nice weather we *had* been having. This morning we woke up to about 6 inches of snow! Being Tyghe’s first real snow, we had to take lots of pics.

Tyghe even got to sled down the driveway with Caemlyn.
Notice Tyghe’s hat? I made it for him a couple nights ago since I knew the temps would be dropping.

Thanksgiving was quite uneventful here, as it was just our family. We did have lots of yummy food, and birthday pumpkin pie. Wonder if Ada will go for that the next time her birthday falls on Thanksgiving? Tyghe slept through our meal, but he did enjoy the little bit of sweet potato casserole I fed him later…and the whipped cream I let him taste from my pie.

Tyghe turned 5 months old yesterday - and he *finally* rolled over from tummy to back for the first time tonight!

Alter Cloth Take 2
I finally finished my alter cloth for the Sacramento Temple. Mom has the first one I made that ended up not being big enough. So, I made another. Thanks to mom for the help on getting the iron spew clean from the corner!

And just for fun, here is the 1st one I made.

Turquoise Trail
Since everyone had the day off yesterday for Veteran’s Day, we decided to take a little road trip down the Turquoise Trail. This is the road that runs from Santa Fe to Albuquerque down the east side of the mountains. Not much to see, except lots of scrubby bushes and a few very small towns.
Here is how we started our day…

Best friends. Ada was holding Tyghe so daddy could put carmex on Ada’s lips.
We stopped in Cerillos first to see an old turquoise mine museum and such, but everything was closed. It all looked like it was about to fall apart as well. lol Here are the kids standing in some old, rusty mine cart of some sort.

Then we stopped in Madrid. Not much to see as the coal mine museum there was also closed. Biggest disappointment was Maggie’s Diner from the movie Wild Hogs. Thought it would be fun to have lunch there, but a lovely sign in the window says it was only built as a set for the movie. So, it’s not a real restaurant. But, here is a sample of some of the funky art displayed along the main road through town.

There’s so little on this lovely trail that we ate lunch at a gas station grill. Not bad mexican food, but we laughed at all of the comments we got on our big family and everyone being super friendly and talking to us. We planned on driving up to the top of the Sandia mountains to look over the other side at Albuquerque. On our way up, we stopped at hiking trail to entertain the kids a bit while I fed Tyghe. Neither worked so well, but we decided to hike to the top instead of driving. The sign said 1 3/4 miles to the crest trail, but I think in all we hiked close to 4 miles to get to the top (which wasn’t even the very top of the mountain) and back down. We probably climbed a couple thousand feet on a rather rocky trail, but the view was amazing!

You can’t really see much of the view due to the clouds, but it was pretty cool. On a personal note, I carried Tyghe all the way up in my homemade mei tei style carrier, and carried Ada a good part of the way down in it. lol Tyghe may be some what of a heavy weight, but Ada weighs A LOT more! My legs were rubber by the time we got down. I was very thankful last night that our neighbors were in Hawaii so we could take advantage of their nice hot tub. And yes, we did have permission to use it!
breather
Stealing a little breather so I can post a brief update - and pics, of course! I’ll start with the cutest pic I got recently.

Ada put the ring on Tyghe’s face and he left it there for quite awhile, just smiling at me behind it. LOL
Last friday we gave Tyghe his first taste of baby cereal. He didn’t do too bad at all. He’s had it a few more times since then and is doing well with it. Now if I could just get him to take a bottle!

And a couple more pics from Halloween. Can you tell who designed our pumpkins? Hint: Not mom & dad!

And if I’m not already busy enough, on Halloween I decided to whip up a little costume for myself for our ward’s trunk or treat festivities. I made it out of an old t-shirt and an old towel.
I’ll see if I can track down a pic of the back of the suburban with us handing out candy - I had a nifty “Mr. Sanders” sign and our treats were in a hunny pot. lol I’m such a dork sometimes.
In other news, our bathroom is almost all done! We’re working on drilling the holes in the tile for the shower curtain rod and we are waiting on the vanity. But, we can use the toilet and the shower, so I’m happy! lol I’ll post pics when it’s all done, but I will state that one of my favorite parts is the heated tile floor. So nice.
And since we didn’t need to work on the bathroom today (for once!) we poured some concrete in the driving to repair a couple of crumbling slabs. The repair work/updates on this house are never ending.
