Lots of Projects
I was pretty busy working on a variety of projects before the flu hit, but am just now getting around to posting them. Some I also wanted to wait until the recipients got them before posting them online. So, here they are:
Blanket and hat for Micah & Sarah’s new baby…

Donut pincushion…

Seed bead bracelet for one of my Mia Maids that just turned 16. (the rest will shortly, so I have to make several more in a variety of colors)…

Brown hemp necklace/choker. This was my first attempt at crocheting with beads (see bracelet).

Leopard print bag that I made for an online swap I participated in (I still haven’t received my pkg yet though, so I’m not sure it was such a good idea to participate). I learned how to do a bit more embroidery for this and can now frame a small “mirror” and make french knots.

These are 2 bookmarks I crocheted for the above mentioned swap…

OK, I think that’s it for now. There’s another necklace I made with beads, but don’t seem to have pics of it yet. I’ve also made a few pairs of lounge pants for Tyghe from various fabric scraps and a bunch of nice bibs as well. I’ll have to get some pics of those, cause they’re a nice size and shape.

Notice anything different? Caemlyn got her cast off last week! Her leg still isn’t 100% healed, so no running, jumping, etc. for another month. But, she can shower and swim and do all sorts of stuff she couldn’t before. Of course, she is still limping and needs to re-learn how to walk normal. hee hee Her leg didn’t look too different in size than the other, but the skin was nasty and peeling for quite awhile. I think she finally got all of the dead skin off though.
Flu
I feel awful. Caemlyn got sick last Sunday and missed a day of school, then the other kids started getting sick with similar symptoms. It wasn’t until I got it Thursday night that I knew what they had - the flu! Ugh. I guess kids (at least mine) just aren’t as affected by it as I am as they never complained of body aches or the like as part of their symptoms. They did have headaches though and most of them threw up at least once. Most of them are on the mend with just a cough/runny nose left, but I’m still feeling awful, as is Tyghe. Tyghe didn’t get sick until Friday night, but he’s done a lot of throwing up. I’ve had to limit his bottles to 2 oz. at a time about every hour to keep him from puking it all right back up. Of course, like me, he doesn’t have much of an appetite anyway. I do think our fevers may have finally subsided, so maybe he’ll start sleeping a bit more and allow me to do the same?
I finished several projects before getting sick that I need to finish taking pics of and get posted. But, that will have to wait.
Uncategorized | Comments (6)8 months old

Our little boy is now 8 months old. He got to celebrate the milestone in conjunction with Valentines Day. I hosted a preschool party/potluck at my house and he enjoyed checking out all of the other babies…and there were a lot! He also celebrated by learning to clap just last night. It was so cute.

Scripture Case
I made Caemlyn and Zephram scripture cases last year at some point, and Caemlyn’s fell apart. The fabric must have been junk cause it basically frayed away at the seems. Anyway, I made her a new one today. She picked the fabric from what I had in my stash. The outside is black canvas and the lining is flannel.

Close-up of the front - I appliqued the cat on the flap from the lining fabric and hand embroidered (my first go at embroidery) the circles and “cat”. I put a snap closure.

Close-up of the back - I appliqued and embroidered another cat from the lining fabric…on a pocket.

Inside - fully lined and there is another pocket inside.

All from scratch based on measurements of her scriptures. She wanted a long strap, so I made it long enough to go over her shoulder, but not across her body. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out, and she loves it.
The Joy of Big Sisters
Tyghe is just beginning to experience the joy of having big sisters. Here he is during a recent dress-up session.

And here’s a recent pic of Ada on her way to a friend’s princess birthday party. She’s wearing the dress I made for Kez when she turned 4.
