Coming Up For Air

June 17th, 2008

I’m making an effort today to come up for a bit of air. This month has been insanely busy, and there’s still so much on the calendar, it’s crazy.
I’ve had to play a bit of catch-up on the blog, as you can tell, since this is my 3rd post this morning. Things not covered by the other 2 posts:
When I got back from my quick trip to CA, Tyghe and I met the rest of the family in ABQ for Caemlyn’s long course swim meet. She swam the 50 breast (her new favorite stroke)

the 100 back and the 50 free.

She has really improved her swimming a lot over the past year. I’m so proud of her and all of her hard work.

Before going to CA, we went camping up at Camp May. One night was plenty since it was still very cold at night up there. It was Tyghe’s first camping trip though - and I think he had a good enough time.

Of course, since I’m training for a triathlon, I decided to run home from camping. It’s about 6 miles - all downhill, with about a 2000 foot drop in elevation. Boy was I sore after that! Other preparations on the tri front are getting new tires for my new bike, since one of them blew out on me this past Saturday. I’ll be doing a splash n dash tomorrow night, and a practice bike/swim early Saturday morning. That’s in addition to my regular running, swimming and biking throughout the week. Of course, I missed out on doing anything yesterday since the kids and I were stuck in Santa Fe all day after the big serpentine belt came off, causing the power steering to go out and the car to overheat, just after lunch time. Justin did eventually come down and rescue us - and fix the car (thank goodness the dealer was still open to sell us the pulley we had to replace).

And Happy Father’s Day to my dear, sweet Justin. You’re such a great dad and do so much to provide and care for our family. It’s a joy to watch you with the kids and see how much they adore you. I love you. Happy Father’s Day to my dad too. You’ve always set such a good example, and I appreciate all that you do for me and the rest of the family.

And later this week - Zephram turns 8 and my parents are flying in from CA for his baptism on Saturday. I’ve got a long list of things to get done over the next couple of weeks for our 2 week road trip to family reunions in CA and OR. Maybe I’ll get another chance to come up for air around mid-July.

YEs–you guys ARE busy but full of fun and good times!! I’m so excited for you to do a tri…you’ll love it. You feel so good when it’s done!:) I love that you have a daughter who swims…I swam all through high school and I still have a pass to do lap swimming at the local pool…it’s just one of those sports you can do until your 90 or when your nine months pregnant etc…I’m already a fan of Caemlyn…Hey what about a reunion in Arizona during spring break??? What do you think? Maybe when you guys are all together for your family reunion in CA –call one of us and we can get something on the calendar!!
