All About Kezia
My little Kez has had quite the weekend. On Sunday, she turned 6 years old. She had a great birthday and enjoyed every bit of it. I think this is the gift she was most excited about. lol

She had a very decadent birthday cake, known as a September 7th cake. Very fitting.

Here’s a pic of the inside since the outside doesn’t even hint at what’s inside. The cake is very spongy with a whipped cream filling and a mousse like frosting.

Not only did Kezia turn 6, but on Friday she completed 3 weeks in Kindergarten and this morning went to her first day of 1st grade.

(Thanks for the cute outfit Grandma!)
With 2 different classes on either side of her birthday, she got to take cupcakes to school twice. I’m taking a break from cupcakes for a bit. lol After the first week of school (which was only 1/2 days) her teacher told me that she needed to be tested for first grade. We filled out the paperwork and didn’t hear anything until the middle of last week. The school counselor called and said that the first grade teacher (the one that Zeph had, and I adore) observed her in class and felt that she was ready for first grade. No testing was done, just a meeting with both K and 1st teachers, the school counselor and the principal Friday morning and the decision was made. She brought home actual homework today and breezed right through it. Having missed the cutoff to start school last year by just 1 week (and learning a lot at home over that year), I’m confident that 1st grade is where she should be. Although, I will express my annoyance with the school policies that wouldn’t allow her to start K last year, but will so readily allow her graduate from K in only 3 weeks. I’m a little sad that the “rules” made my little girl miss out on the fun and experience of kindergarten.

Megan - as a child who’s parents were approached regarding my own skipping of two grades, and who’s parents opted to not allow me to skip -hats off to you for letting Kezia skip a grade. She’ll be better off, and being pretty much the same age as everyone (darn school rules) - she’ll fit in just fine! =0)
What a cute, cute girl. I am glad she enjoyed “her” day. That cake looks way yummy - send me a piece
Kez looks pretty cute in that outfit too. I saw that blouse and it had Kez’ name all over it. So sad she had to miss out on the fun of kindergarten, but in the long run it will not alter her whole school experience.
Happy birthday to Kezia! So exciting you getto go to first grade. I agree that missing Kindergarten is sad….they should have just let her get tested for K last year, but anyhow, I think she fit in better with Tristan at the fam Reunion than with Mel and Gabby so it seems right she would be in grade 1. Tristan will beso excited to know that she is in the same grade!
