Good job everyone that competed in the Los Alamos Triathlon. It was nice to have so many over for dinner on Friday. Other than the rain and cold (at least it wasn’t pouring like it had been at 4am), it was a lot of fun. Although, maybe we can get them to use smaller time chips next year so you don’t feel like you’re jumping into the pool with a lead weight tied to your ankle. lol Thanks for training with me and showing up at the starting line.
So I’m changing things up a bit for this last week before the TRI. Tuesday at 5:30pm will be a bike ride and Wednesday morning at 7am will be a long course swim. I’ll be running on the other days and taking Friday off to rest before the big race.
There will be a pasta dinner at my house on Friday at 6pm. RSVP and let me know how many in your family will be coming so I know how much pasta to make. We’ll provide the pasta, but feel free to bring a side/salad/dessert or whatever to share.
The Los Alamos Tri is almost here. I’m starting to get quite anxious, and hoping that all goes well over the next week and half. The workout schedule is set, but please let me know when you are planning on joining me so I don’t change things up and miss you. An addition to the schedule is a long course swim workout this friday morning at 7am. It’s definitely a different “feel” than short course, so it’s good to get a workout or 2 at triathlon distance. Would love to have company.
There’s only a month left until the LA Triathlon – are you ready?
I’ve posted all of the workouts up to the triathlon, and I’m ready to get to work after 2 weeks of vacation. I did get a few workouts in, but not as much as I would have liked. If anyone wants to try all 3 events together before the race, let me know and we can schedule it in.
Did my 2nd Splash N Dash last night, and it was good to see a few others there as well. Don’t forget, there’s one more on the 30th of this month.
OK, let the countdown begin!
The first scheduled splash n dash event, sponsored by the county and the triatomics, will be held Wednesday, June 18 at 7:00pm. If you don’t feel ready to do the full distance (400 yd swim, 5K run), they also have a shorter distance (200 yd swim, 3K run) that you can do. I encourage everyone to participate, as it’s good practice for doing events back to back and getting a feel for the transition. I did this myself this morning, and it really wasn’t too bad.
There will be 2 other splash n dash events – July 2 and July 16.
I posted the workout schedule for June. I’m still not totally set on it, so let me know if you have any other ideas. You will notice that there are a couple of workouts that list 2 events – these are bricks. We will do 2 events back to back so we can practice transitioning and get the feel for it.
As always, there’s flexibility. If you want to do something different or in addition, post a comment. I may add in a long course swim or 2 if anyone is interested in coming with me early in the morning.
I haven’t made a workout schedule for June yet, as I’m just not sure yet what the plan is. I went to the pool this morning with Caemlyn and swam long course, but I leave tomorrow morning and will be gone all week. I encourage all of you to get to the pool at least one morning this week and swim long course, since that is what the triathlon is. I’m also looking for input on a workout schedule for the rest of the month. Post a comment with your input and I’ll get the schedule up sometime next weekend.
Nicole – feel free to post a comment with your schedule for the week if you’d like others to join you. Of course, same goes for anyone else looking for company on any of their workouts.
I’ve updated the workout schedule with a calendar for May. I’ve turned Tuesdays into SWIM days with Thursday and Saturday alternating RUN and BIKE. Somewhat more standardized and allowing for longer runs/rides on Saturdays. As always, if a different time or schedule works better for you, let me know and I may be able to adjust so more people can join us.
We’re doing well and making progress, but I’d love to see more moms out there with us. Whether you want to compete or not, and even if you don’t want to do it “all” – join us anyway. Pick which workouts you want to come to and get in shape with us. I post the workout schedule on the workout page, but am flexible. If you’d rather bike than swim, or want to get out earlier on Saturday – whatever it is, let me know and we’ll work it out.
If you think you might be interested, post a comment and we’ll convince you that you can do it!
